Huttlinger Back On The Road

Acoustic guitar guru Pete Huttlinger debuted his new pacemaker/defibrillator last night on stage in Lincoln, CA. It was fanstastic! Three weeks off the road didn't make him one bit rusty. More so, it made him itchy to get back on stage and play. Many of Huttlinger's massive California clan came out for the show. That was a great surprise for him and added that much more inspiration to his performance. And get this... A guy walked up to Pete and introduced himself as Pete Huttlinger. No way, there's only one right? Turns out there's a distant cousin that he had never met. He pulled out his driver's license and sure enough--another Pete Huttlinger (see photo). There are so few Huttlinger's in the U.S. that they are all related somehow. We all went out for a drink after the show and got to know each other.
Pete's playing was fast and clean--he didn't miss a beat. There were lots of pacemaker and anesthesia jokes. Part of him wanted to keep the surgery a private matter, but the showman in him just couldn't pass up the opportunity for the humor. There are two more shows this weekend in Northern Cal. Next weekend's shows are all in Orange County, CA and then he's headed to Copper Mountain, CO for the big Guitar Town festival. Erin Morris http://www.petehuttlinger.com/
